The band performed several songs from the 1965\r\nfilm's soundtrack at the concert in Pyongyang. The\r\nSound of Music was chosen by Laibach as it's a wellknown and beloved film in the DPRK that is often used\r\nby schoolchildren to learn English. Laibach are joined by\r\nBoris Benko (Silence) and Marina Martensson on vocals.\r\nThe album gives the Laibach treatment to tracks such\r\nas 'My Favorite Things,' 'Edelweiss,' 'Do-Re-Mi' and\r\n'Maria,' here reworked as 'Maria \/ Korea' ('How do you\r\nsolve a problem like Maria \/ Korea?').\r\nWhile the majority of the tracks on the album\r\nare from the film, the band also included 'Arirang,' an\r\ninterpretation of a traditional Korean folk song considered\r\nthe unofficial national anthem of both North and South\r\nKorea (and released recently to mark the historic summit\r\nin Singapore between Donald Trump and the leader of\r\nNorth Korea, Kim Jong-un). Also included is their own\r\nworkout of the Gayageum, a traditional Korean zither-like\r\nstring instrument performed by students from the Kum\r\nSong Music School in Pyongyang and a recording of the\r\nband's 'welcome' speech to Korea from Mr. Ryu from the\r\nDemocratic People's Republic of Korea Committee for\r\nCultural Relations.\r\nThe album was recorded and produced in Ljubljana,\r\nSlovenia and in Pyongyang, North Korea. It represents\r\nanother successful collaboration between Laibach and\r\nSilence (Primoz Hladnik and Boris Benko), who previously\r\nco-created Laibach's 2006 Volk album.\r\nOver 35 years on from their genesis in the thenYugoslavian industrial town Trbovlje, Laibach are still\r\nthe most internationally acclaimed band to have come\r\nout of the former Communist countries of Eastern and\r\nCentral Europe. Founded in the death year of the country's\r\nfounding father Tito, and rising to fame as Yugoslavia\r\nsteered towards self-destruction, Laibach can make you\r\nthink, dance and march to the same music.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Pale Blue Dot Records","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":43067336654910,"sku":"5400863041533","price":30.98,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/2059\/7683\/files\/4273693-3078952.jpg?v=1783382297","url":"https:\/\/goldenapplecomics.com\/products\/laibach-the-sound-of-music-vinyl-lp","provider":"Golden Apple Comics","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
