Non-Profit

The Liebowitz Family, owners of the world-famous Golden Apple Comics, “Comic Shop to the Stars” in Los Angeles, CA for over four decades have just formed a new 501-(c)(3) non-profit organization. The mission of the Golden Apple Comic & Art Foundation is to preserve, safeguard and showcase private collections to ensure that comics, books, art and collectibles are secured for future generations to enjoy.

“We realized an immediate need to ensure that the comic book artform and collectibles will be around forever to inspire people from all over the world” Ryan Liebowitz, Foundation President.

In addition, to curating private collections, the Foundation has many other activities planned that include: Working with Universities and their Special Collection departments, domestic & international mobile museums, school lectures, fundraising auctions, comic industry scholarships, convention programming, original art preservation and events to raise awareness and funds. In addition to family members Ryan, Kendra & Sharon Liebowitz, the initial company board is comprised of these outstanding individuals:

Kevin Smith (Filmmaker)

Marc Andreyko (Creator/Writer)

Heidi MacDonald (Comics Beat)

Mike Malve (Atomic Comics)

Gary Prebula (Producer)

The Foundation already has it’s first large donation and is working with the special collections division at the famed University of Pennsylvania to secure, catalog and house these prized possessions. Here about our organization from our Advisory Board Member Kevin Smith!
